PoCo Garden Club has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Port Coquitlam under the 2010 Volunteer Recognition Awards & Tribute program for outstanding volunteer services to the City of Port Coquitlam and its citizens. National Volunteer Week is coming up on April 18 to 24 and two members of our club have been invited to attend the city’s Volunteer Recognition Awards and Tribute to be held on April 20. Shelly Livesky and Margaret Follis will represent our club at the function in recognition of their personal volunteer services.
Also, the City of Port Coquitlam will be hosting its 7th annual Pitch In For PoCo Pride event on Saturday, April 24th to take place from 10 am to 12 noon for clean up activities at a number of venues in Port Coquitlam. Participants are invited to a complimentary hot dog lunch afterward at the Hyde Creek Hatchery & Education Centre. More information on the clean up and its locations is available at the city’s website.
We also received a newsletter mention for the volunteer services that the club provides to Hawthorne Seniors Care Community. It reads:
Thank you PoCo Garden Club…
Once again Hawthorne would like to thank and welcome back the members of the PoCo Garden Club, new and old. The club has volunteered their time and energy for years at Hawthorne maintaining and planting plants and flowers all around the grounds. Their main focus is on the raised planters in the Lodge and the gardens in the Cottages as well as taking on the task of keeping the plants around the fountain maintained. Thank you so much for all your hard work and your continued support, we couldn’t do it without you all!!!
Further information regarding Hawthorne Centre, including their newsletter and opportunities for potential volunteers is available on their website.
